John “JW” Hill

BKAAC Group Manager

 

With more than 20 years of experience in construction, John Hill joined BKAAC in 2013, and has already completed his training to become an OSHA Authorized Construction Trainer and First Aid/CPR Trainer. He also holds a GSWCC Blue Card in Georgia and an Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspection Card for South Carolina. John came from Morgan Corp. where he was the equipment safety trainer and safety team member. He also became an Authorized Cat® Equipment Trainer. John worked hand in hand with the Project Superintendents to help with staffing and training both of all new and existing employees. John also worked for Palmetto Site and Asphalt as a Project Manager, where he was in charge of numerous large projects throughout Georgia and the Carolinas. Projects ranged from those for public schools and roadways to those for big-box retailers Lowes’ and Walmart, and multimillion dollar sitework at Fort Jackson and Fort Bragg.

 

Woody Hughes

Estimator and Project Manager

 

Woody Hughes began his construction career working for A.J. Kellos in his hometown of Augusta, Georgia, managing its construction equipment rental division. In 1989, Hughes began working for Hull Properties, Inc., a commercial retail real estate development firm in Augusta. Hull Properties eventually became Hull Storey Retail Group, and grew to be among the largest privately held retail developer/owner/manager firms in the South. Hughes served Hull Storey as Director of Construction. In this capacity, he coordinated civil and architectural design and construction of numerous food-anchored shopping centers, three Super K Kmart centers, and 35 Lowe’s Home Improvement warehouse stores throughout the Southeast. In 2010, Hughes joined BKAAC, where his primary duties include estimating business development and serving as project manager.

 

Mike Kellems

Safety Manager

 

Mike Kellems is the Safety Manager for BKAAC. He has over seven years of experience in this field, and is skilled in emergency management. Mike has obtained multiple certifications from OSHA and other safety programs throughout the course of his construction career. Prior to joining the team at BKAAC, he worked for Reeves Construction as a Project Engineer and at Trak South/Palmetto Site and Asphalt in multiple positions while learning the construction industry. Mike has been a member of the New Ellenton Fire Department since 1989 when he joined as a cadet and is currently serving as the Fire Chief since 2008. Mike lives in New Ellenton, SC with his wife, son, and daughter. He is a member of the Cedar Creek Church in Aiken, SC, and enjoys playing golf, college football, and spending time with his family and friends.
